6. Visiting St. Paul’s Shipwreck Church

Take a stroll to St. Paul’s Shipwreck Church, just a minute’s walk from your apartment. You can easily spot it from the apartment terrace because of its distinctive red roof, as you look in the direction towards the sea. This church holds a special significance, marking the spot where survivors of a shipwreck, including St. Paul himself, were rescued by locals who built a bonfire for them. Although the original 14th-century church was destroyed during World War II, it was rebuilt afterward. Inside, you’ll find three paintings depicting scenes from St. Paul’s shipwreck, believed to be the work of artists influenced by Caravaggio. It’s a fascinating piece of history right on your doorstep!
