Wied iż-Żurrieq & Blue Grotto
We begin with a visit to Wied iż-Żurrieq (Valley of Żurrieq), a picturesque coastal inlet overlooking the world-famous Blue Grotto. From the cliffside viewpoint, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of dramatic limestone formations rising from the crystal-clear Mediterranean Sea.
Weather permitting, you may take an optional traditional boat trip into a network of natural sea caverns, where sunlight filters through underwater arches and reflects off the white seabed, illuminating the water in dazzling shades of turquoise, cobalt, and deep sapphire blue. The constantly shifting light creates a magical, almost surreal atmosphere that makes this one of Malta’s most breathtaking natural highlights.
Marsaxlokk Fishing Town
We also visit Marsaxlokk, Malta’s traditional fishing village famous for its colourful luzzu boats decorated with the symbolic “Eye of Osiris.” The waterfront is lined with cafés, family-run restaurants, and market stalls selling local produce, crafts, and souvenirs.
The village offers a peaceful, authentic atmosphere and a picturesque bay that’s perfect for photos. As you stroll along the promenade, you’ll experience a glimpse of everyday Maltese coastal life, shaped by centuries of fishing tradition.
